When did they change Feasts? A review of my disappointment.
I was looking for clubcard priced Ice creams, saw feasts on sale and thought "God, feasts were my favourite as a kid, let's buy a pack since it's on sale". I saw it was vanilla instead of chocolate, but thought as long as it has that amazing core of crunchy chocolate it would be fine. I was very wrong. Here is my in-depth review of the new Feast if people get any nostalgia for it:
- Outer chocolate: Shit. It's so thin it only took a few seconds for the ice-cream to start melting apart and breaking the chocolate. It doesn't taste nice, it's just sad. It had some new nuts in it but I couldn't really taste it, more of a texture than a flavour.
- Ice cream: Worse than a choc ice, even the cheapest choc ice can give me some joy. It was incredibly icy and didn't even have a strong vanilla flavour. I remember the chocolate ice cream being quite nice, bit sad that they didn't just switch to vanilla but downgraded the whole thing.
- Inner chocolate: Gone. Some disgusting abomination, like a soft chocolate fudge, has been left in it's place. I had my first one whilst sitting by my bike so thought "What a shame, it's too warm so the core is all melted". WRONG. Second one straight out the freezer was still soft. The whole appeal of feast to me was the cold, crunchy chocolate centre. If you do not like cold chocolate this is probably an improvement, but I very much dislike this change.
Hope this is helpful, definitely sticking to on sale Twisters and Soleros this summer. I think every ice cream with chocolate coatings have degraded in quality too much. It's a bit of a shame how the quality of ice cream has been so sorely affected with how bad the heat in the UK is now.
I think the worst sin for the feast is the packaging is the same, with a bite out of the feast ice cream revealing an intact chocolate core. You literally cannot do this with the new core. False advertising.
