**1. Luffy never learns his lesson about mindlessly charging in despite seeing his brother being killed for that same reason. \[One Piece\]**

Before Ace's death, Luffy frequently rushed into conflicts without a proper strategy, relying on his willpower to win rather than carefully assessing the risks or retreating. During the Alabasta arc, Vivi points out that if Luffy gets himself killed, he will no longer be able to protect anyone. Luffy's fight against Crocodile is one of the few instances where he adapts his approach, using water to counter Crocodile's sand abilities. However, outside of situations where he is forced to develop a specific counter, Luffy continues approaching conflicts in the same reckless manner: charging directly at enemies and trusting that his determination will carry him through. Because of this, Ace's death should have been a turning point for Luffy. He witnessed firsthand how reckless decisions could put both him and his friends in danger. However, the lesson Luffy takes from Marineford is that he was not strong enough to protect his loved ones. The problem with this is that Ace did not die because Luffy lacked the strength to save him. Ace died because he made an impulsive decision and recklessly charged into a conflict that got him killed. Despite all the warnings, Luffy does not change his reckless approach to fighting. During the Wano Arc, he attacks Kaido despite being warned about the danger of fighting him directly. As a result, Luffy is defeated instantly and captured. Had Kaido killed him, Luffy would have left his allies without their strongest defender, allowing the Beast Pirates to continue attacking them.

**2. Flash still chooses to mock his villain instead of immediately apprehending them, despite his father being killed as a consequence of this. \[Cw's Flash\]**

Throughout the series, Barry repeatedly gives villains opportunities to recover by stopping to talk instead of immediately restraining them. His tendency to do this always allows villains to retaliate and escape. Throughout the series, Barry's actions have resulted in the deaths of many innocent civilians. Despite this, he never learns his lesson and keeps stopping to talk to his villains. A major instance of this was with the Speedster villain Zoom. Barry manages to restrain Zoom with a device that removes his super speed and bolts him to the ground. However, instead of immediately taking Zoom into custody, Barry spends 2 minutes confronting and mocking him. This allowed Zoom to regain his super speed and escape. As a result, Zoom later returns and kills Barry's father, Henry Allen. Barry now has direct evidence that stopping to talk against dangerous villains results in devastating consequences not only for himself but also for the people around him. Despite this, Barry continues repeating the same mistake throughout the series. He still stops to talk, still underestimates his opponents, and still gives dangerous enemies opportunities to regain control.

[Frustrating Trope] Character never learns their lesson despite seeing the most catastrophic consequences of it.
