Incorporating HS 🧚🏻♀️
Inspired by u/Pink__Vamp ‘s post about Classic!
I’m curious to see how people with varying amounts of High-Spirited include it in their style. Please share your experience in the comments, especially if you know your exact blend!
As some of you know, I way overestimated my HS before I got verified. It resonated on a conceptual level and I just love the essence in general, so I thought I’d have it as my primary, if not a strong secondary. I love wearing shorter haircuts, small scale patterns and shorter, cropped silhouettes. What I didn’t realize was that the elements I thought I enjoyed most about HS were actually communicating Y on me. There is a lot of overlap between them in the book, so it makes sense that they’d be easy to mix up.
In reality, my HS is a minor influence at only 10%. I correctly identified HS in my love of graphic prints, colorful sneakers, oversized jackets, edgy and funky boots, quirky earrings etc. But these are all small details. I wear HS in the same way I wear C: little touches in design elements, outerwear, jewelry, shoes. I could not wear the same base garments as HS primaries like Sarah Jessica Parker, Awkwafina or Maggie Gyllenhaal. I’ve tried, and instead of looking cool and intentional, HS pieces just end up looking silly and false on me.
I also love the idea that HS can be expressed as “small scale D”; it makes me think of edgier gamines like Winona Ryder, Ariana Grande back in her Dangerous Woman days, even Lily Collins has that edge about her. I want to incorporate my own HS more in that way, with a little more rebellion rather than quirk.
Anyway. Thanks for reading, all the love to you HS fashionistas and I would love to read about how you express HS!
