Second totaled car in a year.
I just got the call that my car has been totaled. Again.
TWICE now I have been stopped at a red light or pedestrian crossing in this fuckass city of Milwaukee and I get rear ended because people are on their phone.
I had to surrender my work car (RIP) so I had to come up with a down payment out of thin air for this Toyota Yaris IA. Safe. No frills.
Totaled by a Buick while stopped at a pedestrian crossing.
I barely got what I had *just* paid for jt back.
Again. No money for a deposit. Had to get predatory financing (partner is a recovering gambling addict. My credit is shit for what you can assume are obvious reasons)
Bought a 2016 sonata, got the 3k warranty because I know the engine is shit but it had low miles and one owner.
6 months later crashed and apparently totaled at a stop light by a giant dodge ram truck because he “hydroplaned”. When I saw him at the previous light drinking Starbucks on his phone.
I have sunk so much money into cars. I’ve lost so much money on car totals. I do not have money for another down payment. We are one income (me) and share a car.
All of this to say- I’m fucking done. There is no point to buying a halfway decent car that will inevitably put me in the hole with crazy interest.
Are there and safe old cars out there? ATP I’m just going to buy beaters and drive them into the ground.
Any make model advice? Last I shopped for a car 6 months ago the prices were absolutely insane.
