"Elijah is more scary than klaus"

This statement never made sense to me. It might be because elijah kill while remaining calm that people automatically make him scarier and crueler than klaus, but for me (and arguably narratively also) klaus is made to be more scarier than elijah.

The point they tried to make with elijah i think is that he is also a bad person when it's needed, not that he is a secretly scarier person than klaus.

People (mostly elijah fans) seems to get this pleasure with the thought of him being this scary beastly vampire who is lowkey more crueler than klaus, while the portrayal might make it that way i never thought the show intention is that. It's more of them showing his grey side.

Finally the meaning of 'red door' makes it sure for me that elijah is psychologically weaker than klaus, his entire life he hide behind the illusion of his noble persona to escape his trauma while Klaus (who committed worse atrocities) didn't need anything, while klaus have some coping mechanism, i never saw him having identity crisis because of his vile actions.
