As I began to research Islam I found it very helpful for showing me information that is usually hidden from people, how proselytizers of the religion often hide and white-wash their history, and gave me a lot of perspective. It really gives an important background on the Prophet, the Quran, how fallible he was, what he was motivated by, his actions/morality, and how even his scribe corrected him one on occasion when recording a verse, and the many reasons not to trust or believe in this faith. It's a very wordy and long read though, that's my only criticism. I wish was a more simplified and too the point book similar to the stuff Bart Ehrman writes about Christianity (like Misquoting Jesus or Jesus, Interrupted). It's not a perfect book, and apologists (as usual) always have a response to every objection, but that's normal for how religion operates. Every religion does that. But it showed me where to look, and what apologetic responses I need to research, and decide for myself what is true.

I wish there were more books like this, most the other ones people recommend about Islam specifically are really expensive. But this one is very cheap to find used online.

Anyone else read this book "Why I Am Not A Muslim" by Ibn Warraq?
