I always thought women's refusal to go out to the supermarket in pajamas was a superficial thing
English is not my first language, sorry for any mistake.
So first of all i'm a woman who never cared about her looks, mixed between being asexual and very depressed all my life. And i was always surrounded by women who cared a lot about their looks (or maybe the normal amount?). I grew a huge "im not like other girls" complex because of this, and even tho now im better than when i was a teenager, theres still things that i subconsciously i still believed, the one in the title i learned a week ago was still one of them.
Less than a year ago a supermarket opened almost right by my house, and for the first time in years i didn't have to walk over 5 blocks to go buy stuff, so i started going to the supermarket in pajamas all the time.
When i was leaving the store a few months ago a guy made small talk with me, basically asked for directions and didn't follow them when i gave them to him, so i pretended to go to the bus stop so he wouldn't see me enter my house and eventually he left.
I found the guy again a month ago, he asked me what time it was (in my country this is a very common way to steal your phone) so i just told him whatever time i supposed it was, and he started talking about a gym that was nearby or whatever. I basically pretended i forgot something in the supermarket and stayed inside until he left.
2 days ago i come back from work to my mother telling me, and i quote "a guy was on the door when i was going out, and he asked me if the girl with the lunar pijamas lived here" HE KNOWS WHERE I LIVE NOW, FUCKING HOW.
I swear this happend so long ago id forgotten about his existence, and now he talks with my mom to ask if this is my house??? You know whats the worst part? That i remembered watching a tiktok describing how in japan women never go to the store in pajamas because theres men who take that as a sign that they live close and basically follow them home... I literally remember thinking "omg im so glad that doesn't happen here" IT NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BECOUSE I NEVER HAD A STORE CLOSE ENOUGH TO GO IN MY PIJAMAS OMFG I FEEL SO STUPID.
Its like every woman had gotten that memo except for me, i feel stupid and guilty because i truly thought that this was me just not caring about what people think, like i felt more of a feminist for going out without make up and in my pajamas and no its because those women are smart omg i truly been losing my mind for days, i literally never connected the dots of why women dont go out in pijamas and feel so dumb and like it is my fault that he now knows where i live.
