What should I do in this situation? Sue him or try to come to an agreement?

Hello all! I am in search of some much needed advice. I 30 F was involved in a sugar baby relationship with a man a few years older than me, let's say 35M. He is a successful business owner, married, with nearly adult children. At the time I felt he was the only one who had any moral obligation to his relationship with his wife so honestly him being married didnt bother me. I am a student and also work so this situation was beneficial in helping me balance the financial aspects of my life while attending school. About 2 months into the relationship I found out he gave me not one but TWO STI's. (Sexually transmitted infection) One of which I will have for the rest of my life. He knew he was infected and could possibly pass these infections on but never disclosed this information to me. I am now in a position where I currently owe thousands in medical expenses. I have spoken with an attorney and have an appointment coming up to discuss next steps. I am seeking payment of the medical bills, lost wages, attorneys fees, and pain and suffering compensation. Is a lawsuit the best course of action or is there a better way to handle this situation? He has not been completely dismissive of my situation but I do not believe he will willingly compensate me for pain and suffering. This situation will forever change any intimate relationship I may pursue. Should I continue with a lawsuit or try to come to an agreement with 35M?
