Need help improving my Optimum WiFi in my apartment!

Recently moved into an apartment that only takes Optimum. Had Optimum installed but I’m having a lot of drops in wifi strength when being in certain spots in the apartment. Was reading that pairing your own router to the gateway modem/router optimum improves the WiFi? Was looking online and it mentions to call Optimum to put the gateway modem/router into bridge mode?

Does anyone have recommendations on a good WiFi router that pairs well with Optimum's gateway? I have the 500mbps coax connection plan and I live in an apartment that is about 700 square feet. I originally was going to go with a mesh wifi system but it seems that since my apartment is only one level and 700 square feet that getting my own router is the best option over a mesh wifi system?
