I thought the sex tourism was a stereotype my friends were using to make fun of me when I told them I'm going to Bangkok for a month...
The amount of ladyboy and happy ending jokes I've got when I tell people I'm going there is unreal. Even my mom tells me I'll be coming back with a new wife lol
I booked Thailand on a whim when I saw a cheaper flight. I didn't know much about Thailand besides the stereotypes myself. I had no idea how massive and cheap it was.
I'm recently divorced and wanting to travel more. Japan was my favorite trip so far and I never knew who inexpensive Thailand is (besides what it costs to get there). I mostly stayed in Tokyo with a few days in Mt Fuji.
I've been planning on staying in Bangkok the majority of the time since I'm not much into beaches when I solo travel (I'm a remote worker and can work too). Enjoy the culture, do day trips to places I want to check out. Eat a whole lot of cheap amazing food.
The more I look into stuff the more I realize the stereotypes are true lol I nearly booked a hotel near Soi Cowboy not realizing what I was getting into. Now I'm at the Siam area. I guess I figured it be more like Japan. Their red light district didn't feel anything like a what I assumed a red light district would be like.
I don't know why I'm making this post. Maybe it's the exploitation of it all. I saw some guy post here where he talks about missing Thailand so much and than you realize why.... It's a little upsetting and putting a damper on the upcoming trip if I'm being honest.
