The Surge Protector That Protected More Than Electronics

I used to buy the cheapest power strips I could find because I figured they're all basically the same. Then we had a nasty storm a while back and the power kept flickering on and off.

Everything plugged into my surge protector came back just fine. My old TV in another room that wasn't protected? Not so lucky.

That was enough to convince me they're actually worth spending a few extra bucks on.

It wasn't even just about saving electronics either. Losing that TV would've been annoying, but what really hit me was all the stuff on my desktop. Years of photos, work files, random memories... replacing hardware is one thing, replacing that isn't.

Now pretty much every expensive device in my house is plugged into a decent surge protector. Hopefully it'll never have to prove itself again, but after that experience I don't really see them as just another power strip anymore. It's one of those boring purchases you appreciate way more when something goes wrong.
