Grieving the end of my breastfeeding journey

Rant/Venting

My baby turned 6 months two weeks ago and has been exclusively breastfed via pumping to this point.

This was a goal of mine since with my first I couldn't make him latch and could barely produce 10 oz of milk a day when I tried pumping.

Since we reached six months with my current baby I decided to be more relaxed with the extractions and started to watch more what I ate. I knew this could lead to a supply dip but I didn't realize it could be this drastic.

I went from averaging 40 oz a day to 25 oz in less than a week.

And while I thought I could wean my baby in a month or two, it seems that it's gonna be faster than I expected.

I don't need advice to regain my oversupply. And I know that what I'm pumping is still a lot, and of course I have my freezer stash (roughly 600 oz); but I wasn't expecting to be this sad about it.

I feel like somehow I'm failing, or being selfish for wanting to end now, instead of when my baby decides or waiting for reaching the year.

I guess I just wanna know if this is normal? I mean, I hated pumping but I guess I also gonna miss it?

Should I try to go back to my oversupply?

My baby is very healthy and has loved every food that I have offered them.

But I was just so proud of being able to feed her my milk this time around I guess.
