Changing to an earlier flight

Hello all. Just wondering if anyone has tried/had any success changing to an earlier flight on the same day of travel? Booked for the last flight tomorrow LGW - AGP and have noticed the earlier flight still has quite a few seats for sale. The app has an option to look at earlier flights but is only available on the day of departure. Thought I would ask before getting my hopes up. Thanks
