Books about the American labor movement?
Basically what the title says
How did we go from having an actual, organized labor movement to being scared of the word union? Like what happened to the Pete seegers and Utah pihilips and Phil Ochs of this country? Were they ever actually popular or was labor organizing always a niche thing here?
It seems to me that any trust in unions and labor organizing has been systematically broken by the rich and powerful, but how? When did it start? What did they actually do? Like what laws were passed, who was behind what etc.
Sorry for the potentially dumb question but I wanted to ask here instead of googling for a hopefully unbiased or at least left sympathetic book
