The Uncertainty Principle: the Sea of Quanta and what i think the Aether and Dark Zone might be.
So recently in version 4.2 we obtained a redeable called
Approaching Science: Mysterious Dark Zone.
In this readable we learned about two very important concepts in the HSR universe that in game scholars have been studying for years.
The Aether, and the Dark Zone.
The Aether is referred to as the projection of a "higher dimensional plane" into the 3 dimensional plane of the universe, or in this case the universe is the "Imaginary Tree".
Note: the "higher dimensional plane" as it will be very important later.
The Aether in HSR is referred to as Mythus's domain, and Mythus is said to be connected to it.
We have heard of the Aether before in HSR and its constantly refered to as an important fundamental building block of the universe that factions such as the IPC and Garden of Recollection use as an energy source or in the Garden's case use the Aether for the maintenance of there lightcones.
Now going back to the Aether it seems that the Aether is some tangible substance or energy that people can harvest or interact with but its also extremly dangerous as stated in the Condensed Aether and all variations of the material... Personally i imagine it to have similar effects to a person the same way Mythus has an affect to a person, meaning because of the anti causal and illogical behaviour of the Aether interacting with it could make you go insane or start seeing alternate possibilities and timelines.
I'll go in depth about the whole possibilities thing since Mythus is very connected to the concept of possibilities with there Dark Zone and there stated goal.
Lets go back to the Aether.
The Aether is also constantly compared to that of a Sea/Ocean which us very similar to the Sea of Quanta.
Its also poetic that Mythus domain is akin to a Sea since Mythus is a jellyfish or looks like one if you see them in the lower dimensional plane.
It is anti causal meaning things like logic, consistancy and possibly even time doesn't apply to the Aether it is why people are able to send faster then the speed of light information via the Aether.
Now with all this information in mind why do i think that the Aether and the Sea of Quanta are most likely connected?
Well lets tackle the facts.
The Aether is referred to as a "projection of a higher dimensional plane into 3d"...
Higher dimensions have always been used to refer to things beyond natural perception in the hsr world, Aeons, all of there influences, the Sea of Quanta this have all been refered to as higher dimensional but i personally believe that the higher dimensional plane being refered to here is the Sea of Quanta because the Sea of Quanta is refered to as 11D.
Now you could make all sorts of excuse about what theae higher dimensional plane could be but personally i think its the Sea because of one specific thing....
The term "Aether." Or in CN Yitai.
The term Aether has been used in both HSR and Hi3rd...
Aether in HSR refers to well the whole thing i just talked about whilst Aether in Hi3rd refers specifically too and is related to the Sea of Quanta.
The Sea of Quanta is often described metaphorically as an "Ether Bathtub" a vast, chaotic, and fluid dimensional expanse that surrounds the stable branches of the Imaginary Tree.
The Ether is what composes the Sea of Quanta and from what we know the Sea of Quanta is made up of dead information and memories, this dead information and memories are from the possibilities that never came to past essentially discarded timelines, so the Ether is actually dead information of dead timelines.
Now why is this relevant just because they share the same name in both EN and CN doesn't mean they are connected?
Thats where your wrong, because you need to understand who on earth Mythus is and what the Aeon wants as well as what there nature is
Mythus is the Aeon of Enigmata and in HSR Enigmata is the death of information essentially Oblivion the enemy of Remembrance and the governance of Uncertainty the enemy of Erudition.
If Nanook destroys matter, Mythus destroys memory, knowledge and information.
Why does Mythus do this? Are they insane? Do they just like lying?
No Mythus as contrary to popular belief and jokes by the fandom never has been stated to have lied in any piece of lore in the game its a misconception of wrong attribution, lying is a tool that the History Fictionologist and Riddlers mostly use to spread uncertainty, Mythus never lied because they never said anything straightforward in the first place.
The very few moments where Mythus communicates anything are through Riddles, Riddles that are supposed to intale something but is often hard to understand.
You will never hear Mythus say 1+1 = 3 they are most likely to say two words that seemingly don't correlate with each other.
Like in Sim U when Mythus appeared they left an answer without a question just saying "Blood" and "Flower"....
Aeon of Lies... More like,
Aeon of Vagueposting.
Mythus believes that knowing the past creates a certain future.
Essentially the HSR universe runs in what i call Uncertainty Principle.
Essentially in HSR all possibilities exist until its observed or in this case calculated and divined by Nous or those divinators who can see the future, when the future becomes known it becomes certaine, thats why the futue must remain unknown and the divinators have very strict rules about divining things, why Yao Guang is so cautious.
Essentially Mythus is an Aeon who cares alot about possibility and i think might have authority over possibility, essentially the Dark Zone which are like black holes in the Aether all containe possibilities i think Mythus reboots the universe by loading alternate timelines and overwriting the Imaginary Tree's concrete imformation. Which is very Enigmata.
Now how does this relate to the Sea of Quanta?
Mythus is most 100% inspired by the concept of the Uncertainty Principle, essentially they muddy the waters to ensure uncertainty so that anything can happen which can be a good and bad thing... The conection of the Sea of Quanta to the Uncertainty Principle is that the Sea of Quanta is governed solely by the principle of Uncertainty, and as we know the path of Enigmata is the path of uncertainty.
Another thing the Aether and the SoQs nature are very similar the SoQ is described as choatic, anti causal and the rules of the universe general relativity don't apply in it, the first law of thermodynamics just like in the Dark Zone and Aether don't apply here, which strenghtens the connection between the SoQ and Aether being connected.
One thing to add i think the Sea of Oblivion, Evernight is refering to is the Sea of Quanta.
Essentially everything the Imaginary Tree has "forgotten" and discarded ends up in the SoQ, those possibilities that fail to become part of concrete Imaginary Tree reality
My speculation those scientist who were analyzing the Aether is partly wrong and correct the abundance of Aether in the cosmos has always been like that because the Aether is the shadow/projection casted by the SoQ inside the Tree it is the energy the Imaginary Tree sips from the SoQ to create its possibilities and the Aether is how the people inside the Tree perceive all this things. This process is managed by Mythus using there path, if Nous is the manifestation of the trimming process of the Imaginary Tree, Mythus is he manifestation of the growth of possibilities inside the Tree using the recycled energy from the SoQ, They are also correct to speculate that the Dark Zone/Aether has destroyed everything before since if the SoQ and Aether are really connected them the SoQ in one of the many cycles the Imaginary Tree has been to has drowned the Imaginary Tree and won.
Now how about the Dark Zone, my speculation is that they are a collection of Bubble Worlds that Mythus sneaks inside the Imaginary Tree as some sort of back up save point shit essentially if the universe gets deatroyed Mythus can take a bubble world/discarded alternate timeline and overlay it with the current reality to make it seem like the universe was never destroyed or something.
Now with that if you still don't believe me just read the in game text about the Sea of Quanta and the Dark Zone again from both of there respective games, if theres one thing common about this two that Hi3 players will be familiar with its the overly techniqual scientific jargon that used... Like seriously your mind is going to spin reading about the Quantum mechanics stuff in Hi3 the same way your mind is going to spin with whatever Mythus domain is, seriously first law of thermodynamics? when i first read this the first thing that came to me is the many flashbacks when i was playing Hi3rd.
Anyways if you want to add more information or have any ideas you can comment it... I do think some of my thoughts and ideas were lost later on the text, but hopefully you saw the comparisons i was drawing.
