2015 Chevy equinox

I'm not mechanically inclined, and feel stupid for asking.

I want to check my oil level but am I supposed to check it cold or hot? I googled it and it said I should run it and then wait 10 minutes and then check it...

Another source said newer cars you can check cold but older cars need to run and then wait.

So idk..

Can someone please help?
