IIT Hyderabad (Civil) vs. IIM Lucknow (BS in AI & Business Analytics) – Which should I choose?

Hi everyone,

My qualifications: 12th pass, cleared JEE Advanced.

I am trying to choose between two options and need guidance regarding the long-term career scope.

Option 1: B.Tech in Civil Engineering at IIT Hyderabad

Option 2: BS in Artificial Intelligence & Business Analytics at IIM Lucknow (New inaugural batch)

My Background & Career Goals: I am heavily interested in entering the tech side (Software Development, Data Science, AI/ML engineering, and Tech Consulting). I do not have an interest in traditional core engineering sectors.

My Confusion:

Curriculum Alignment: IIM Lucknow gives me a modern, ready-made curriculum in coding, machine learning, and analytics from day one. IIT Hyderabad forces me to study fluid and structural mechanics while grinding coding on my own time.

The New Course Risk: Since the BS program at IIM Lucknow is brand new, how risky is it to join the first batch? Will top tech companies value a 4-year BS in AI from an elite business school as much as an engineering degree?

The IIT Brand: Is the tech culture and open placement pool at IIT Hyderabad strong enough to justify taking a core branch like Civil when my goal is purely tech?
