Not sure if I can do this anymore

💁 Advice | Discussion

My little guy is 8.5 months old; we've bedshared almost his entire life. He's usually a great sleeper- sleeps 10-12 hours a night, wakes a few times to nurse but doesn't even open his eyes, very calm and peaceful. Welp, that all changed almost a month ago.

The day before he turned 8 months began some new level of hell. Almost every night (every night this past week), he wakes up every 2 hours. He doesn't start crying right away; I'll try to nurse him back out, but he rips off of me and then starts wiggling away. He's crawling all over me, babbling, sitting, rolling, trying to stand, kicking (I'm 13 weeks pregnant), pinching my nips. Sometimes he starts crying in the middle of all that, sometimes he starts when I try to bring him back to lie down to nurse and sleep, but each wake descends into screaming and crying. He only slept for 8 hours last night because he was awake so much. I've tried bottle, rocking, different room, idk what else to do. It's like a switch just flipped one day, and he hasn't slept the same since.

Family thinks this will be solved by throwing him in his crib and essentially sleep training. I do NOT want to do that. But I'm losing my mind here. I give him sooo much practice time during the day; this boy is crawling and standing all damn day. How can I survive this with no end in sight, keeping him in bed with me? Sorry this was so long, I just have no idea what to do :(
