Question regarding food in NYC for both locals and visitors, best places?

I am visiting soon and I am wondering what are the BEST places for food the locals and visitors, and I am not talking about one of the many "But this influencer loved it!" I am talking not chains and actually good and not one that's "trendy" on social media, any places like that you guys recommend?, and don't like sushi or anything or Korean BBQ, or anything like that, the likes are Subs, Italian, etc
