We built 2 solid tech meetup communities at One2N - AMA

I moved to Pune in September 2024 and did not know many people here.

Over time, we ended up building two meetup communities: Command Line Heroes, focused on Linux and the command line, and the One2N Pune AI Mitramandal, focused on practical conversations around AI.

The names came together quite casually. Command Line Heroes was almost an ad hoc choice, while “Mitramandal” came up during the 2025 Ganpati celebrations.

I have learned quite a bit about finding speakers, selecting useful topics, getting people to attend consistently, managing venues, and keeping the community from becoming overly promotional.

I will be around until 9 PM today. Happy to answer questions about:

- Starting and running a meetup in Pune

- Speaking at community events

- Finding venues or speakers

- Building a career in tech

- What has and has not worked for us

Not adding any event links here. Happy to share relevant details in response to anyone who asks.
