I’ve had the Same Reoccurring Dream Themes for Over a Decade.

I have been for the past 15 years been dealing with a reoccurring theme in dreams and it’s been getting more intense, and I have no way of talking about it. As a teen, I dated my closest friend and we broke up right after graduation. We almost got back together but I was dating someone else (not my eventual spouse), and he eventually got together with his now wife. We talked routinely until he was engaged. He held an officer position in the US Military.

The dreams are random, but he’ll come in, we talk about how we miss each other’s friendships and go about our lives. The intensity has been increasing. Sometimes war is involved. Sometimes I’m fearful for his life, sometimes he’s fearful for mine. No desire for romance during these dreams because dream me is adamant with staying with (my spouse).

I have no idea what to make of this, and I DO NOT want to talk about it with my spouse, because that’s hella awkward.
