Retired barber with 50+ years experience. Here is my breakdown of Morgan’s Slick Extra Firm Hold Pomade (100g)

Product Review

Hey gents,
Over my decades behind the chair, I’ve seen a lot of guys struggle with "Extra Firm" hold pomades. They usually complain that the product is either too hard to scoop, dries down like cheap superglue, or flakes by midday. I wanted to do a quick spotlight on Morgan’s Slick Extra Firm Hold to explain how it actually performs and how to use it right.
The Scoop & Texture: For an extra firm hold, it has a surprisingly smooth scoop. It's water-soluble, meaning it has that clean, gel-pomade consistency rather than a heavy oil/grease.
The Hold & Slickness: It lives up to the name. If you have thick, coarse, or unruly hair that refuses to stay down, this will lock it into place. It gives a beautifully clean, slick, traditional look.
The Washout: This is the best part. Because it's water-based, it washes completely clean out of your hair with just regular water—no aggressive scrubbing or special shampoos needed.
My Barber's Tip for Extra Firm Hold:
Because this is a high-hold product, timing is everything. If you apply it to bone-dry hair, it will grip too fast and make combing difficult. Instead, work it into slightly damp hair.
Take a small amount, rub it thoroughly between your palms to warm it up, and distribute it evenly from back to front. Use a sturdy comb to set your side-part, pomp, or slick-back. If you need to restyle later in the day, don't add more product—just run a wet comb through your hair to reactivate it!
Footnote: I have an old trade account with them from my time in the business. If anyone is looking to grab a jar from their official UK site, typing in PPGB10 at checkout drops the price by 10%.
