"I don't have to take care of the dog" doesn't work when you're someone's caretaker 🥲

It just leads to pet neglect. If I don't take care of the dog appropriately, no one will.

The dog is my elderly dad's dog. I live with my dad and am also his caretaker. I can't just ignore her when I live in the house as well.

He doesn't brush her. He doesn't/can't wash her if she gets messy. He can't clean up after her when she goes to the bathroom. That's all on me.

I can't just let the house be a pigpen either.

I'll have to deal with this for another decade. The dog is barely a senior.
