Phone GPS vs wathc GPS

My apple watch has been giving inaccurate GPS readings lately. It is 5 years old now, so I think software support might have ended. I used love the convenience of it, but now I'm debating whether the extra 100+$ is worth it.

Those of you who have used phone GPS, watch GPS or both, what was your experience like? Was one more accurate than the other?
