Navimow X430 is the GOAT!

The Navimow X430 is the FIFTH mower that I've owned and used. Started out with the Dreame A1, then got the Sunseeker Orion X7, then the Ecovacs A1000, then the Lymow One, and finally the Navimow X430.

Oddly enough this started out as an economic choice to get rid of my lawn crew. I'm WAY beyond this being about economics at this point.

I've successfully been without a yard crew since buying the Dreame A1 so they all accomplished that goal. But the difference lies in a few key areas:

  • Mowing height. I found out the hard way that I need to mow my St Augustine grass at 3.5" or higher. This weeds out a lot of mowers automatically although the new mowers all seem to be going to 4" max cutting height. The Ecovacs A1000 could theoretically cut at 3.5" but it was actually doing more like 2.75".
  • Cut Quality. Lymow One is the best by a long shot. The Sunseeker X7 was last for me but I think this is dependent on grass type - I've seen it do beautiful work on fescue lawns. The Navimow is somewhere in the middle. It's definitely not the best but it's good enough.
  • Autonomy!!! This is the big one once you've cleared the 3.5" hurdle and your cut quality is good enough. EVERY single mower I've tried before the Navimow requires some amount of babysitting. Enough that I didn't trust them to run automatically without me being home. The Navimow is the first mower that I've had that just does it's job without any babysitting required. Does it leave a few stragglers here and there? Yes. But I have it mowing Sat, Sun, Tue, Thur and if it misses a blade or two on Saturday, it will most likely get them on Sunday.

If I could combine the cut quality of the Lymow One with the hands-off autonomy of the X430, I'd be thrilled. I almost dread the day that Segway releases a new robot with high RPM steel blades because it will be a winner for me!
