Can I get a lost and found item from Pearson to meet me later on my trip?

Hi there, I’m starting off a long trip with a frustrating situation. My hat went missing between security and boarding, and I’m almost certain it fell out of my bin inside the machine or something along those lines. I was in Toronto only on a layover and won’t be coming back in the foreseeable future. I will be traveling several weeks and I’d really like to reunite with it during the next leg of my trip vs shipping it home and not having a hat the whole time. But I’m not sure if that’s realistic at all.

I’ve submitted a report so we’ll see if they even find it. But if they do, any advice about reuniting with it?

A few years ago I dropped my phone on an airplane and the staff were able to send it back on the next flight for free and just let me pick it up from their desk. Someone from lost and found handed it back off to the staff and arranged that for me. But obviously was a higher ticket item and a generous action. I don’t know if this ever happens here.

I’ve also heard that there are some cargo shipping options with planes and not sure if I could pay to have it sent on the next flight. I don’t know if that’s only for larger items and/or if they’d retrieve something from lost and found on my behalf for that.

Lastly I know FedEx is an option but have no idea of the costs or timelines. For example if I wanted to reunite with it in Mexico one week later is that at all doable? Or are there FedEx pickup points I could ship to if I can’t ship to a hotel? It’s not a luxury hat or anything so I’d prefer not to spend $100+ on a shipping gambit, however it would be hard to replace with the same one.

All of it may be a long shot but if anyone has info about reuniting with items when you can’t return to the airport, I’d love to hear some experiences 🥲

Thank you!
