Fake tooth

Hiya, i have a fake tooth on my left side, top of the mouth, front. I’m pretty sure it’s a filling but it could be a crown, i got it put in when i was about 11 and im 19 now, so unsure. Earlier today i was eating and heard it crack, it’s been loose and aching since, booked in with a dentist but i was just wondering if it’ll be alright if it falls out before the dentist appointment? would it be better if it fell out sooner? unsure and panicking, would appreciate any help
