tickets and tours for the Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea), you probably dont need any
TLDR: no ticket needed, temple is free/donation, only pay if you want a tour with transport. dont overthink it.
Seeing this asked every week so making one post. The Krabi Tiger Temple is not a tiger zoo, its a buddhist temple (Wat Tham Suea) with the big staircase everyone climb for the view. No animals, no photo with tiger, none of that.
So about the tickets: the temple itself is basically free. You just walk in. There is donation boxes if you want to give something for the upkeep (those 1200+ steps dont fix themself lol). Some people report a small fee like 50 baht in certain areas but honestly most of us paid nothing. You do NOT need to buy any ticket online in advance, dont let anyone scam you for that.
The only time you actually "pay" is if you book a tour — like the combo one that do Tiger Cave + Emerald Pool + hot springs in one day. Thats worth it if you dont have transport, because getting a ride back from the temple can be annoying. But thats a tour price, not a temple ticket, big difference.
How to get there cheap:
- rent a scooter from Krabi town / Ao Nang, parking is free
- grab / songthaew (red truck) also works
- its only like 3km from Krabi town
Few tips from when i went:
- go EARLY, like sunrise early. after 9am the sun is brutal and the steps become suffering
- cover shoulders and knees, its a real temple. you can rent a sarong at entrance for like 20 baht if you forget
- bring water, alot of it
- the steps are no joke, 1200+ of them and steep. totaly worth the view tho
