The Real Roots of Our Sovereignty

Our nation’s potential for true democracy was not inherited from the royalty-protecting systems of the UK or other colonial powers. Instead, it mirrors the structure of the Iroquois Confederacy, which established a blueprint for decentralized power and collective decision-making.

These principles are mirrored in the Nordic models, which share a deep historical lineage with the Viking traditions. Central to this lineage is the recognition that:

The Right to Bear Arms: The true check on government power is a citizenry that is better armed than its leaders. This was a core tenet of the Iroquois Confederacy, where the people held the power over their chiefs, and it is a pillar of the Swiss model—the first country outside the Americas to codify that the people must remain more powerful than the government.

Absolute Equality: From the Norse sagas to the traditions of the Cherokee and Iroquois, these societies understood that women were equals in every sense—as warriors, leaders, and defenders of the home. History celebrates figures like the red-haired Queen Helle, who took the seat of her father and proved that leadership and strength belong to anyone who earns them, not just the men. In the Iroquois Confederacy, the Clan Mothers held the true power; they were responsible for appointing chiefs, holding them accountable, and determining the direction of the nation based on the consensus of their families. Similarly, the Cherokee recognized powerful female leaders like Nancy Ward, the Beloved Woman, who served on the Council of Chiefs and held significant influence in maintaining the welfare and sovereignty of her people. These systems ensured that leadership was not a solitary crown, but a shared responsibility rooted in the collective will of the people.

Defensive Capability: The Vikings, the Cherokee, and the Iroquois all recognized that women were just as capable in battle as men. They were often tasked with defending the territory, not because they were "behind" the men, but because they were the most reliable protectors of the community’s sovereignty.

Breaking the Duopoly

The two-party system we suffer under today is a distortion of these values. It is a "wrestling match" theater designed by modern-day "robber barons"—the billionaires and corporate donors—to keep us fighting each other while they strip away our rights. By forcing us into a binary choice, they ensure that the "ruling minority" stays in power, regardless of which candidate wins.

If we want to reclaim the democracy our Constitution was designed to protect, we must:

Reject the Duopoly: Stop participating in the two-party trap that relies on corporate-funded candidates to maintain their power.

Demand Multi-Party Representation: Move toward a coalition-based system—similar to the models in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, and New Zealand—where diverse viewpoints are represented and compromise is a requirement, not an afterthought.

Reassert Our Power: Follow the example of our ancestors and the Swiss: ensure that the government serves the people, and maintain the capacity for the people to defend their own liberty.

The two-party system has left us broken, but it is not a permanent law of nature. It is a structure built to serve the few, and it can be dismantled by the many. We have the historical precedent and the constitutional framework to become the greatest democracy in history. It is time we stop acting like subjects of a monarchy and start acting like a sovereign people
