I have sympathy for Nia: To an extent

Nia

Disclaimer: Obviously there are some things said I can't stand by especially if it discredits a serious incident. I don't believe Nia is 100% in the right 100% of the time but I do have some sympathy for what she is going through in her relationship.

On average it takes someone 7 times to leave their partner if they are in a bad relationship. I am not claiming Danny/Nia are in a bad relationship or anything like that at all. But in my own opinion some of the things that I see displayed remind me of my own experience as I once was in a bad relationship that I am now out of.

Especially with Nia trying to regulate Danny I don't think she is doing it to protect his image I think she is doing it to make her own life regulated. Or even on a short term notice make the rest of her day be okay and have peace versus spending the night going back and forth with Danny. Because no matter HOW she reacts he has the same reaction in my own opinion.

It seems in my own opinion from what I see on the show that Nia has been hyperaware of when Danny's mood is going to take a turn. She always is expecting it but trying to please him to not make it get to that point. Sometimes it works but most of the time it doesn't.

I think in the most recent episode it showcased the point I am trying to make. Even before the previews I knew Danny's birthday would be a shtshow. When the scene came on of Nia holding Danny's face and focus on your wife and he could not look her in the eyes and he was tracking back and forth with his eyes it was alot. In my opinion it was like he gets stuck and just escalates it and is trying to say he is fine but his behavior is completely inappropriate. Especially when he was having another drink after Nia told him no one else was drinking. Then the camera pans to him alone, after everyone left and Danny in my opinion is slurring, 'great birthday' sarcastically at the servers. It is like he is making a bad situation worse and proving the point that he gets to a certain point. He proved the point he was trying to make all night that his behavior is normal when he ended the night alone at a bar on his birthday.

I feel sympathy for Nia in the sense that I think she's regulating to give her day peace versus protecting Danny's image. It is easy for Lala to call it like she sees it (and she is right in my opinion) but when you are in it, it is hard to see it for what it is. Just like how Lala was when she was with Randall. When you are in it as Nia is now it is really difficult to break the pattern. It seems like you are just getting through the day. I can't imagine what it would be like for her, that she just moved away from all her friends to Santa Clarita which is over an hour and a half away with traffic and she does have 4 kids together with Danny. If it was just herself she can just up and go if she wanted to but she is tied to him in my opinion. Not sticking up for him would be the first sign of her realizing there could be an issue which can snowball the pretending or the facade wearing away for her. It is a hard reality to face when you realize that the person you are with is not treating you right and that all you invested in them is something you have to let go of. This is all just my opinion.
