I built the all in one image tool I always wanted: compress, convert, resize, and optimize images & SVGs offline, all in your local browser. No uploads, no limits, no account.

I kept running into the same annoyance: I'd have a folder of images to shrink, and every online tool either uploads them to some server, caps me at 20 files, watermarks the output, or wants an email first. For anything private that's a hard no. And none of them handled SVGs properly.

So I built TinyIMG. Everything runs inside your browser tab — nothing is uploaded, there's literally no server to send files to. You can kill your wifi after the page loads and it still works.

I wanted it to be the one tool that covers everything, so here's the full list:

Compress / optimize

  • PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC/HEIF, and SVG
  • Real codecs under the hood (MozJPEG, OxiPNG, libimagequant for proper PNG-8 palette reduction with dithering) compiled to WASM
  • Auto-detects photo vs. graphic and picks sane settings for each
  • Lossless mode

Convert between formats

  • Any-to-any: PNG → WebP, JPEG → AVIF, HEIC → JPEG, etc.
  • Reads GIF, BMP, TIFF, JXL on top of the above

Resize

  • Custom dimensions, keep-aspect-ratio, multiple size presets at once

Full SVG toolkit (the part I'm most proud of)

  • SVG optimizer — SVGO/SVGOMG-grade, multipass, cleans up your vectors and can seriously cut file size
  • SVG → raster — turn any SVG into a crisp PNG/WebP/AVIF/JPEG at whatever DPI/scale you want (it supersamples for sharp edges)
  • SVG → SVG with embedded bitmaps — if your SVG has raster data baked inside, it keeps the vector wrapper but recompresses the embedded image

Batch / workflow

  • Drop single images, a whole folder, or a .zip — it unpacks and processes everything
  • Multi-threaded, so a big batch doesn't freeze your browser
  • Before/after slider to see exactly what the compression cost you
  • One "Download All" button hands everything back as a zip

A few things I care about, since I know this crowd does too:

  • 100% free — no tiers, no "pro" upsell, no watermark, no file-count limit
  • 100% private — your images never leave your device; open the network tab and check, there are zero upload requests
  • 100% offline — it's a PWA, install it and use it on a plane
  • No account, no tracking, no ads

On the AI question, since people fairly ask: yes, I used AI as a coding assistant while building this. But every change went through a manual review gate before it landed — I read and understood the code, it's not vibe-coded slop dumped from a prompt. The architecture, the codec choices, the whole SVG pipeline — those were calls I actually made and can defend in the comments.

It's open source (repo above). Found a bug? Open an issue. Want a format or feature added? PRs are genuinely welcome — I'd love for this to become the tool people reach for instead of the sketchy upload sites.

Would really appreciate feedback, especially on quality vs filesize for your own images. Roast it if it deserves roasting.
