Recently bought Edition XS and unfortunately they are the worst-best headphones. (review)
Undoubtly, the audio quality is superb, they pull thrice their price. But everything else is... complicated.
Their natural eq is not suited for music but it adds a ton of "detail".
Once I eq'd it to harman target, music became listenable, but they lost some of their magic/they felt a lot more like regular headphones. Turns out low bass and a bright tuning psychoacoustically makes sound have more texture. The soundstage is still top notch.
But this is where the good ends. The build quality is cheap. 500$ driver in 20$ housing type situation. Yes, the headstrap is as bad as rumored. I didnt feel much the first couple days but now i straight up got an abrasion on the top of my head💀. My head size is in between M-L and the strap is still on the verge of being too loose.
But that's negligible, the worst part is by far QC. The headphones i received got extra harmonics at certain frequencies. Not uncommon for planars I heard, but the whole 4k-5.5khz frequency range is nuked in my case. And on top of that, the membrane is the right cup seems a bit loose which adds distortion (which unlike the former is easily noticeable during regular use) at certain frequencies.
Inside the box i got a small cardboard piece with a recent date that says "QC approved" to add insult to injury. At least there is no db channel imbalance.
For me, it's a personal hell, no other headphone can even come CLOSE to the sound quality at this price range, locking you in, but you never know what you're getting.
I'm getting a replacement soon, I'm praying I don't get something worse because I don't think I can live with regular 200$ headset sound after this.
