Jewelers who 3D print / cast: what clasp & finding sizes do you wish were parametric?
I'm prototyping a tool that generates jewelry findings (toggle clasps, jump rings, hooks, magnetic clasp housings) as 3D models where every dimension is adjustable — ring diameter, wire gauge, bar length etc. — instead of hunting for the one STL that happens to be the right size.
First prototype: a toggle clasp (pic attached). Before I go further I'd rather ask people who actually make jewelry:
- Do you ever print/cast your own findings, or is buying them always cheaper/better?
- If you do: what sizes/types are hardest to find as models?
Not selling anything — genuinely trying to figure out if this is worth building properly.
