What do the other players do while another is doing something for x minutes/hours?

I'm a really flavourful gm. I love when players describe their most minute details, micro expressions, gestures etc. The problem arises when there is an action the requires some minutes to do. For example treat wounds: it takes ten minutes to do. let's say there's 4 players. Do the two unrelated to the action just sit around twiddling their thumbs? How do you encourage them to even just describe how they meditate, tinker with their items or read a book? I'd be bored out of my mind in a situation like that so I'd imagine some more energetic pc's would also be bored when just watching a guy being patched up.
