One of the post, I came across recently in a very notorious sub known for their rabid Islamphobic discourse is on Taliban. They are under the assumption that whatever the Taliban does is real Islam. And not many traditional scholars have condemned. This is what happens when these charlatans who appears to be the beacon of critical thinking stops their thinking capabilities.

Scholars from Al-Azhar, Turkey's Diyanet, Indonesia's Nahdlatul Ulama, Morocco, Jordan, many Gulf scholars, and countless independent Sunni scholars have criticized Taliban policies especially on girls' education, coercion, and governance. This really proves that the vast majority of scholars don't support what Taliban is doing.

The most funny and double standard part is that for years, they whine,"*Why don't Muslims condemn extremists? Why don't Muslims reform?*" Then when Muslims ranging from progressive, moderate, or traditional actually criticize the Taliban or barbaric practices and argue from within the Islamic tradition that they're wrong then, its "Hypocrisy" and we are "Hypocrites."

It's amazing how some critics insist Muslims should reform their tradition and then complain the moment Muslims actually try to reform or challenge the people they believe have distorted it. Apparently for them, the only acceptable Muslim is one who either agrees with extremists or stays silent. Nothing suffices them. If muslims don't speak against extremism, they are guilty and if they speak against extremism, they are guilty as well. The irony is that this kind of reasoning resembles anti-Muslim rhetoric more than genuine criticism.

P.S:- I do not encourage anyone to brigade other subs to create choas and hostility.

The Double Standard Against Muslims
