Barbican London - not able to understand

Did anyone else at the gig not able to understand what he said between songs? I was on the right side but when it was between songs I couldn't understand and what he said, apart from getting it was talking about the guitarist or drummer etc.

I felt the sound quality of the mic with his deep voice did not really work together.
