Spaghetti Carbonara

I recently graduated from a small \~150 students high school, with a technical focus and reputation of being tight-knit and inclusive. The day I graduated, a classmate of mine attempted to touch me inappropriately, one who I had laughed and joked with the first day of school. That same individual sexually assaulted my best friend. Despite this, and us informing both his friend circle and staff, there were absolutely no consequences for him, and he remains (to my knowledge) an appriciated member of a large friendgroup which actively defended him.

Another good friend of mine was manipulated and used as an emotional dumping ground by another classmate, known for being a bit of a creep. This culminated in him sexually assaulting her in the school building, during school hours. My friend tried to raise awareness, speak to staff and the relevant authorities. For this, she was socially ostrocized and betrayed by her friendgroup of 2+ years due to ”putting them in harms way”.

A former friend of mine was manipulated, groomed and sexually exploited by a classmate. Me, her friends and my friends together took action to support her and spoke to school authorities. The student was actively backed by the school, but dropped out due to social pressure for his crimes. His victim would go on to actively participate in the defense of the assaulter in the first paragraph and expulsion in the second paragraph. Their victims were among those who supported her when she needed it.

Another person in my class admitted to her boyfriend hitting her. She too participated in the first and second incident. Despite this being well known, he has a large supportive network of friends.

To all people in this community, please be careful. Stay safe. Someone you view as a friend might have done awful things. Would you stand by their victims, or would you prioritize social clout? These are not just isolated incidents, but systematic abuses, permitted by disgusting spineless people who value comfort over justice, permitted by authorities not listening, believing or caring. It’s emblematic of something rotten.

Recently graduated from a small highschool. I am disgusted.
