Injury after 4 months

I've worked as a delivery driver at asda for 4 months. Best job I've had and first job I've genuinelly enjoyed. Cranked my ankle into a pothole Tuesday coming out the van and turns out it is a grade 3 sprain and could possibly need at lwast 6 weeks off work to start healing. Did full accident form when I got back and told to rest and phone them the next day. Went to get it xrayed the day after and a manager called that day asking when I'd be back. I said I had to have the next 5 days complete bedrest so they said to call them on day 5 and let them know.

Then got a second opinion due to severe pain and told it'll be weeks of recovering and physio. Saw my boss on way home as nipped in past the store. She was meant to be on holiday and now is for next 2 weeks and she said to call them the next day and let them know about my incoming sick line.

I've only worked there 4 months. Already another driver off ill and 3 drivers off on holidays for every week for the next 5 weeks at least so I'm terrified they'll simply dismiss me as they could possibly readvertise, rehire and retrain someone within those 6 weeks.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? I'm thinking of seeing if I can do a phased return after 2 weeks but doing check outs if that'd help. I've been told returning to work too soon could cause further risk to healing, re-injury or healing wrong meaning I'd have a permanant issue with that ankle.

Just asking advice to or to see if anyone else has had similar and if it was ok?
