3 weeks post-op DJS & genio - how are you dealing with nerve pain?

3 weeks out from Le Fort I + BSSO + genio for class II correction. Honestly the recovery has been better than I expected. Swelling is down, eating soft foods, walking every day. But the nerve pain in my chin and lower lip is something else. Feels like my face is on fire. This constant burning that gets worse in the evenings, I'm having a hard time falling asleep.

My surgeon says it's the nerve waking up and that it's actually a good sign, but living with it is rough. My doctor offered clonazepam but I'd rather avoid benzos if I can.

Currently doing paracetamol (tylenol), cbd topical and cbd oil. It helps a bit but doesn't really cut it.

What actually helped you guys get through this phase? How long until it got bearable?

I'm lowkey worried I'll be stuck with this pain forever.
