Pregnancy after Stroke with Intracranial Atherosclerosis Cardiovascular Disease
Hi! I (26f) had a stroke 4 years ago at 22. They have been at a lost for the real cause and all they know is that I have a build up of plaque in my intracranial arteries but have no idea where it came from since I have no lifestyle risk factors and no high bp or diabetes and not crazy high LDL. They said this is something I was born with and will need to be on statins the rest of my life to manage it.
My husband and I are planning to start trying for a baby soon and my cardiologist thinks they can get me through it safely with statins in the last two trimesters. I still need to see my neurologist but that’s coming up. We are very scared that something could happen to me and/or the baby due to how high risk I am but my doctors seem hopeful.
Does anyone have success stories of a healthy happy pregnancy and delivery after enduring anything like this? I know I’m a rare case but maybe someone out there can unfortunately relate. Thank you in advance!
