Which Marriott properties have unique/location-specific key cards? (Ritz-Carlton and Edition do it right, curious who else)
I collect hotel key cards, and at this point it actually affects where I book for work.
If a property hands out a generic brand-wide card with no specific hotel name or city on it, I genuinely feel like the stay doesn't "count" for my collection. It sounds ridiculous typing it out, but I've passed on hotels for this reason.
Ritz-Carlton and Edition are the gold standard in the Marriott system. Every single property I've stayed at in either brand has a card with the specific hotel name or city on it. It's this very reason that I tend to avoid staying at St. Regis or the W whenever i book for work.
What I'm trying to figure out is whether there are other Marriott brands or specific standout properties that do this too.
A few things I'm curious about:
Which St. Regis, JW Marriott, or W properties have you seen with unique or location-branded cards.
Whether this is a property-level decision or something Marriott corporate actually mandates for certain brands.
Any surprising exceptions, like a random Courtyard, Westin, or Renaissance that goes above and beyond.
Would love to see photos if anyone has examples. Trying to build out a list of properties worth prioritizing purely for the card.
