Hair Extensions advice/help needed!

Hello, Posting here hoping maybe someone can give us some advice/direction. My girlfriend recent got a style/cut she hates. They took off too much length and she is upset to the point of tears. Neither of us knew anything about extensions but she wanted to pursue that to get back some length. Money is also an issue....I know you get what you pay for, but she was trying to be as cost effective as possible. Her "extension stylist" she talked to point her to someone who was selling new Bellami 22" extensions on FB market at a fraction of the new price. At her recommendation, she bought them. Now the stylist is saying that it is not enough and the color may not work. So now my GF is double upset, one because of her hair and two because she might be out hundreds of dollars for extensions she cannot use. At this point we are just looking for advice for best option. Is there any way to salvage the extensions she has a just use a little less? (The stylist she bought them from won't take them back). Are there stylists out there that can work with that without having to purchase all new? I know we should have educated ourselves more before jumping in but she has a trip coming up and stressing out about getting this done in a hurry. Any advice would be appreciated!
