2004 Chevy Colorado (1st Gen) - Passlock?
This is my last resort, any input is greatly appreciated! So my 04 Colorado has an aftermarket viper remote start key fob that I have been using exclusively ever since I got the truck. About a year ago I got back from a trip and the battery in my truck died which triggered the passlock system for the first time which wouldn't let me start the truck. I did a security relearn and the light went away and the truck functioned as normal for a year until about a week ago the light came back on. This time only the light appeared and no other symptoms came with it as it would still lock/unlock and start/drive normally.
The real problem occurred yesterday when I broke out the factory key fob for the first time in years to make sure it worked as I intend to sell the truck now. Upon using the factory fob, the passlock (or something) triggered and now my truck will not start again. This time, the security relearn doesn't work either. I have tried disconnecting the battery for a few hours as a re-boot and it did not do the trick. When I put the key into the ON position, the dashboard lights wont even turn on and I cannot control the windows or anything (the battery is charged - I checked). I tried the remote start and it wont start it either, only some clicking is heard.
I have seen it could possibly be an issue with the ignition switch and that I should replace it? Is that the most likely case? Any input is greatly appreciated!
TLDR; Used the factory fob on my truck for the first time in years of only using the aftermarket fob and now it won't start or turn over - wondering if it is a passlock issue that can be fixed by a new ignition switch?
