Kobo Clara Factory Reset but won't connect
I have an old Clara that I got years ago. I don't know what designation it is. I honestly think it was before any other Claras came out. It literally says WalMart Kobo Clara when it starts up, and has a micro-USB connector. My daughters, which is much newer, has USB-C, I believe.
Anyway, I have never updated the firmware, unless it does that automatically. Every once in a while, it would freeze, and I have to force a shutdown by holding the power button a long time. Then it usually starts up and works. But a couple of times, my attempts to restart it end with a factory reset, not initiated by me.
I'm in that boat right now. It is trying to connect to my network but fails. It fails to connect to every network. If finds it in the scan, but fails to connect when I give the right password. So, I got out of "Set up over Wi Fi" option. It has another that says "Don't have a Wi Fi network?" I chose that.
It has me connect by cable to my computer, then tells me to go to kobo.com/desktop and install the Kobo Desktop app in order to finish setup. This app apparently no longer exists. So, now I have a kobo that is functioning, but I can't finish its setup so that I can update its firmware.
What should I do at this point?
