MacBook Pro Mid 2012 - what Linux distro should I install?

I have an A1286 15 inch MacBook pro from 2012 that I want to upgrade, but because it's stuck on Catalina 10.15, I think I should switch it to Linux.

These are the specs:
Quad Core Intel i7 with Intel HD graphics 4000, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M GPU, 16 GB DDR3 RAM, 1 TB SSD.

I was recommended CachyOS but in reading about it it seems there's a processor incompatibility with i7 Ivybridge.

Is there a distro that integrates best with this machine and uses it's hardware effectively?
