How well does this game function as a recap of seasons 1-3?

I just got past Utgard Castle and realized I forgot all these plot twists, so I don't trust myself to judge whether the game is leaving anything out. I never watched season 4, and am planning on doing that after beating the game (2 - Final Battle, that is).
