A girl needs help/birth control education

This past month I had a pack of birth control with two weeks left so I went ahead a took them as I'm supposed to. I ended up skipping the placebo week and went straight to my next month, which I've never done before l. Well my period came and it has lasted a week (mine normally lasts 5 days max) and still going with no signs of flow tapering off. I'm not sure if this is because of me skipping the placebo week, but now I'm freaking out it could be something else serious. Advice or education would be appreciated!!
