How important is intellectual compatibility for you guys?

Relationship

(Third time posting please review before delete!)

I'm an INFJ and I've been reading books and chasing ideas since I was a child. I also grew up with a brother who shared this passion for ideas with me, and I always made sure to befriend really really smart people so they can challenge my thinking and I could learn more from them. I loved conversations with older educated people and at a certain age, this type of mentally stimulating conversations is all I really enjoyed in any human interaction (next to joking around ofcourse, A good laugh with friends is always peak human experience!)

When it came to love, I've always been attracted to dangerously smart men. Until I've had a terrible experience with an ENTP and since then my view on life changed drastically. I've ended up being attracted to kindness and searching for it tirelessly. I was just looking for someone I could feel safe with. That's when I found him. A lovely INFP guy who's so kind and self sacrificial. Duty driven and takes care of me like I'm a queen. But he's also quite innocent. Has a less developed analytical ability, struggles with logic, And I feel like I can't talk to him about any topic without confusing him or listening to him interrupt me 20 times just to talk about something completely unrelated just to participate. He also comes to me with "philosophical ideas" that I was having when I was 6 years old just to impress me. Whenever I suggest a book or want to pitch an interesting theory he says that im "cazy" because what sounds normal to me can sound very bizarre to his cute innocent brain than never managed to challenge a single belief he has. He always says I'm delu**** and worries about me (not in a rude or hurtful way!) More like in a scared child way, when you tell them Santa is just a guy. He's so predictable. And it hurts me to type this but he .. bores me. He's not even that funny.. he tries but he's just very.. rigid in a way? Shy? Idk what he is or what's keeping him in invisible chains.. but it's very boring.

And, I have a very smart intj best friend, and I've always felt so weird that I geniuenly enjoyed conversations with him way better? The level of inside jokes, wittiness, originality.. its awesome! With my boyfriend it's like.. that nice friend you have, with whom you gossip about friends or just talk about everyday topics or childhood stories... you know. Meh.

Trust me, I may exaggerate his "naiveté", and he may as well just be like any other average person.

That's why I'm posting here.

He's a GOOD man. I would rather d*****e than intentionally hurt him or break his pure little heart. I don't just love him like a boyfriend, I almost love him like he's my child.

I just don't know what to do. Can someone grow intellectually? Can I teach him? Can I learn to enjoy conversations with him despite this? Or is intellectual compatibility something you simply can't ignore?
