do fruit allergies go away when i don’t eat it for a while and then come back?
for some context, i’m allergic to most fruits apart from mangoes and grapes and can only really have fruits if they’ve been cooked or processed in some way. i have been that way since i was about 5. i have a mild reaction with an itchy throat, sneezing and i find it slightly harder to breathe. i think i have OAS as i also have hayfever but unconfirmed.
i occasionally eat whatever i’m allergic to because honestly just eating mangoes and grapes can be boring after a while.
i decided to try out some pineapple after years of trying one because it’s been WAY too warm here in the UK and i was actually fine? minimal reaction. cool. so i decided to get some the next day and ended up with an allergic reaction again. i’ve tried this in the past with strawberries and oranges and same results. watermelon, however, i get a reaction no matter how long has passed.
it led to me wondering if i actually have an allergy to fruit because can these things even decide to disappear for a day and then come back? i’ve never heard about anyone else talking about it.
anyone else have this?
