How to tone my body (intensely)
I'm 5'4 and 60kg. I'm happy with my weight and height, although I'm not as happy with my overall appearance. I would say I naturally have an hourglass frame, but because of my current body fat percentage and lack of muscle, I'm stuck with a skinny-fat physique. It's affecting how I view myself because it feels like an awkward stage to be in.
I understand that body recomposition, a calorie deficit, resistance training, a high-protein diet, and increasing my water intake are all things I need to focus on moving forward. I've done my research, but there are still a few gaps where I'm looking for advice.
The main thing I'm unsure about is my day-to-day choices and how to fill in those gaps. I'll explain the things I'm planning to implement into my daily routine, and I'm mainly looking for a genuine opinion, advice, and constructive criticism on whether my approach is realistic and effective.
This is what I'm planning to do:
Daily movement
- 13k steps daily
- Either add skipping on alternate days or just stick with 13k steps
Morning routine
- Short core workout:
- Planks
- Plank knee drives / mountain climbers
- Build up strength towards doing push-ups
Resistance training
- Focus on lower body:
- Quads
- Glutes (especially glute medius/side glutes)
- Overall leg tone
- Abs
- Looking for home/outdoor alternatives instead of the gym// or any workout channels for thiss
Diet
- Stick to the same meals for a month to stay consistent with:
- Maintenance calories
- Protein goal
- Cut out fizzy drinks
- Drink more water
- Try different meal preps after the first month
Lifestyle
- Improve sleep schedule
- Build consistency with habits
Main question:
Can I achieve a more toned lower body/body recomposition with this plan, especially without going to the gym? What would you change?
